Gnawa music — a tradition that crossed the Sahara on foot and turned memory into sound — is the doorway into a Morocco most visitors never learn exists.
This journey is built with the African story as the spine, not the garnish. Over five days, you move through that history with the people who own it: maalems, historians, and artisans — compensated fairly and credited by name.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival & First Rhythms
Private transfer to your Medina riad; a welcome dinner with an introduction to Gnawa music’s historical context. Meals: Welcome dinner
Day 2 — The Caravan City
A trans-Saharan history walk through historic fondouks, followed by a session with a local historian on Morocco and West Africa. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 3 — The Music
Artisan encounters by day; a private evening with a Gnawa maalem and his troupe by night, dinner shared with the musicians. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner with the musicians
Day 4 — The Landscape That Made the Routes
Sunrise hot air balloon flight over the Atlas foothills, then a golden-hour camel trek through the Palmeraie. Meals: Balloon breakfast, Farewell dinner
Day 5 — Departure
