Black Heritage & History
Trans-Saharan routes, Gnawa tradition, and community experts credited and fairly paid.
History, told by the people who carry it.
In practice, this means the history is told by the people who carry it, not read off a plaque. A Gnawa evening is arranged with a maalem and his troupe directly. A morning in a mellah is walked with a historian who works with that community, not a general city guide reciting dates.
Every community expert on these journeys is credited by name where they agree to it, and paid a fair rate set in advance. That is a small thing to write down and a real thing to check: ask who you will meet, and we will tell you before you travel.
The two histories on this pillar are told as separate journeys rather than folded into a single culture day. Trans-Saharan heritage and Gnawa tradition run through Marrakech and Essaouira. Jewish heritage runs from the mellahs of Fes to the synagogues and cemeteries of the coast. Each gets the days it needs.

Every journey begins with a conversation: free, unhurried, and with a real member of our Marrakech team.
